New York City is definitely a bucket list must visit city at some point. It truly is the city that never sleeps and can be a bit overwhelming, especially if it’s your first visit! Growing up thirty minutes outside the city, we became frequent weekend travelers and eventually permanent residents after graduation. There is always something new to see or do and our best advice is to jump on the subway to an area and “get lost”. That said, whether it’s your first time or 100th, here are a few of our favorite spots to help you travel like a local

The perfect spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch any day! Stop by one of the several locations throughout the city for a quick yummy bite. Our favorite is the UES location; it’s a unique space right near museum mile and next to a historic church!

The restaurant located in the Bowery Hotel is a great place to dine while visiting the city. Eat delicious Italian food, drink wine and enjoy the scene with friends…what else do you need? You may even get a celeb sighting!

Stop for a sweet treat while shopping your way around Soho. Enjoy lunch, afternoon tea or dessert in the outdoor garden. It’s the perfect place to take a break and take some insta worthy pics!

A hidden gem in one of the most popular museums in New York City is the Roof Bar at the Met. After you’ve explored the various exhibits, head to the top floor for a drink and a must see view overlooking Central Park!

Located on the Hudson enjoy a glass of wine while soaking up the sun on rooftop. The main dining area offers a variety of bites for pairing, from a raw bar to flatbreads and entrees. Not a wino? No problem! Choose from a select menu of beers and/or cocktails.

Looking for a lively happy hour or weekend day spot? Head to the Standard Biergarten to enjoy some German beer and food at picnic style tables perfect for a big group! Ping pong and a game room allow for some friendly competition.

A trendy hotel on the Lower East Side (LES) surrounded by numerous bars, restaurants and places to explore. If you’re looking for more of a local vibe, this is the place for you! The LES is one of the most popular places in Manhattan to sleep and drink.

An old headquarters for the National Maritime Union turned hotel. If you’re looking for more than just your standard NYC hotel, we definitely suggest taking a look. The décor is representative of the name and home to a popular restaurant in the Chelsea area.

Looking to stay uptown? The 1 Hotel near Central Park allows for easy exploration of the east or west side as well as a Central Park view. Grab a coffee or brunch at the hotel restaurant and start each morning off with a walk through the park!

The Seaport District is definitely a place to explore while visiting NYC. Full of various events and attractions, the area has been revamped and is a great place to walk/ shop/ eat/drink with friends.

Built on a historical rail line, the High Line is a park that runs from the Meatpacking to 34th street. With overlooks, lounge chairs and a miniature forest, various sections make this an interactive place to explore.

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and experience some amazing views and Insta worthy moments. This is one tourist AND local attraction that never gets old!
